Buddha Tooth Temple
Around 540 BC, the deceased Buddha was cremated and four teeth were taken out of the fire, which were carried around the world. The tooth was brought to Ceylon in 371. After several centuries of staying in India, the shrine was sent to Ceylon IV by the ruler of Kalinga, who was defeated in wars and feared for the fate of his state. The relic was transported to the island by the ruler's daughter, hiding it in her hairstyle. This tooth has long been attributed to magical power: the one who owns it, had full power. Therefore, the Buddha's tooth became a possession of the royal dynasty. The original place of its storage was the city of Anuradhapura, then the tooth was moved to the city of Polonnaruwa, and at the beginning of the XVIII century it was transferred to Kandy. Here in the temple we will be able to see a magnificent museum, which exhibits a variety of donations donated to the temple. Then the Dalada Maligawa temple was built specifically to store this shrine.

Next, we will visit a monumental statue of Buddha, located on the top of a hill overlooking the city.

Shrubs and trees here are gigantic in size, reminiscent of Gulliver's Journeys to the little Lлипутs. The usual room ficus has grown to a whole grove, with branches intertwined above the head. There is a special "field" with planted "strips" of various herbs.
